
The Large-pore Membrane Filtration System Type
DR-1 developed by KURARAY has a novel new hollow fiber membrane filter of which the pore diameter is as large as 2.5 μm, thus allowing for high flux filtration. It can also be used for filtration of hot water up to 95 ℃, which exceeds the conventional limit of 60℃.
This hollow fiber membrane module is compact, with 8-cm diameter and 50-cm length, however, its large filtration area of 3.3 ㎡ allows for filtration at a high flow rate.
General filtration requires replacement every time clogging occurs. However, the Large-pore Membrane Filtration System Type DR-1 can be used for a long term due to fully automated backwashing using pressurized air and air scrubbing (See Air Backwashing).
Pressurized air of 0.2 MPa is applied from the permeate side for 2 seconds.
At this moment, suspended solids on the membrane surface are instantly exfoliated.
Only 4-liters of wastewater are generated for each air backwashing.
